Introduction
This course is designed to introduce the art of Videography to the students. The knowledge of pre-production, production, and post-production will be given. The students will be able to learn theories, practice various cinematography and editing techniques, and involve in the technological environment of both live and recorded video productions.
The students will be able to actively participate in this course through demonstrations and hands-on experience with modern camera equipment, studio environments, and editing tools such as Adobe Audition, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe After Effects.
The course will provide the theoretical and practical knowledge in videography, while allowing the students to improve the problem solving skills, teamwork, and showcase creativity in various scenarios.
Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Choose the suitable cameras, lighting equipment, and accessories for production and learn how to use them
- Understand the basic principles and techniques of script writing, scene breakdown, and preparing storyboards
- Write scripts, and prepare storyboards
- Apply audio recording, editing, and mixing techniques
- Apply light and sound techniques to enhance video productions
- Apply the basic principles and techniques of videography
- Explain the use of different file formats
- Experiment camera movement techniques
- Filming studio and outdoor videos
- Understand all aspects of broadcast productions
- Demonstrate the knowledge of special effects of video editing
- Understand and create high quality motion graphics
- Learn ethical considerations in videography
- Professionally edit videos of different genres (Eg: documentaries, drams, short films, interviews, commercials etc.)
- Proficiently use different professional video editing software applications including Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Audition
- Acquire a theoretical and practical knowledge of video editing and its related constructs
