BSc in Financial Engineering (external) degree programme focuses on creating new financial strategies and tools used to forecast financial trends, develop financial instruments / models and establish new methods that are beneficial to businesses and organizations to make strategic financial decisions. Students pursuing this degree will learn essential Mathematics, Statistics, language and computer skills, Basic Economics and Accounting, Quantitative techniques, quantitative finance, financial modeling, risk management, corporate finance, Professional development and practices in finance.

Eligibility

G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination (New syllabus) – Three passes including Combined Mathematics or Higher Mathematics as a subject.

G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination (Old syllabus) – Three passes including Applied Mathematics or Pure Mathematics as a subject.

Any other equivalent professional qualification acceptable to the faculty and the senate.

Programme Structure

BSc in Financial Engineering will be completed in three years (90 Credits / SLQF Level 5) and it consists of three levels.

LEVEL I: Diploma in Financial Engineering (30 Credits)

LEVEL II: Advanced Diploma in Financial Engineering (60 Credits)

LEVEL III: BSc in Financial Engineering (90 Credits)

Programme Duration

The duration of each BSc programme will be 3 years. At each year, the programme is conducted over 2 semesters of 20 weeks. The courses are offered on Blended Mode. 75% of lessons are conducted via on-line mode and 25% via face to face discussions. Face to face discussions are conducted during weekends (Sunday – once in month). However, in conducting examinations attendance may be necessary during a few Saturdays.
