Welcome to the CA Sri Lanka School of Accounting and Business (SAB)
The School of Accounting and Business has been established by CA Sri Lanka for the purpose of conducting the BSc. (Applied Accounting) Degree programme, which is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Higher Education of Sri Lanka (MOHE). The SAB functions under the overall responsibility of the Council of CA Sri Lanka and consists of two academic departments namely the Department of Accounting and Finance and the Department of Business Studies.
The BSc. (Applied Accounting) Degree Programme
The main objective of the BSc. (Applied Accounting) Degree programme is to create employable graduates with the required skills, competencies and industry knowledge to fulfill a successful accounting career. Upon completion, the student will gain extensive knowledge and required skills in accounting practices, as this is the only degree programme in Sri Lanka that enables students to gain knowledge in the field of ‘Applied Accounting’
The BSc. (Applied Accounting) Degree programme is designed under two stages where students can either complete;
- BSc. (Applied Accounting) General Degree – within a period of 3 years (6 semesters)
OR
- BSc. (Applied Accounting) Special Degree – within a period of 4 years (8 semesters).
After successful completion of the BSc. (Applied Accounting) General Degree programme, students can proceed with the BSc. (Applied Accounting) Special Degree by completing the extra courses within another two semesters over a period of one year.
The medium of instruction will be English.
Key features of the BSc. Applied Accounting (General/Special) Degree
- Approved by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka and Ministry of Higher Education of Sri Lanka (MOHE)
- Approved under the “interest free students loan scheme “introduced by the Ministry of Higher Education of Sri Lanka (MOHE)
- Industry exposure through internship and placement at reputed organizations from second year onwards for two years.
- On completion of the BSc. Applied Accounting (Special) Degree programme, graduates are eligible to obtain exemptions from:
- CA Qualification: Graduates of the special degree will only need to complete the Strategic Level of the CA Sri Lanka Chartered Accounting programme while enjoying exemptions from the Business Level and the Corporate Level. Of a total of 17 subjects of the CA Sri Lanka Curriculum, the graduates will enjoy exemptions from 12 subjects (8 subjects from Business Level and 4 subjects from Corporate level).Twin Qualifications – Twice the Success!

Option to complete the degree in Australia
Students also have the option of studying one year of the BSc Applied Accounting Degree with CA Sri Lanka in Colombo and completing the second and third years with La Trobe or Deakin University in Australia.
Entry Requirements
- Passes in three subjects (in any subject stream) at the GCE Advanced Level (Sri Lanka) examination with a minimum mark of 30% for the Common General Paper in one attempt
OR
- Passes in four subjects (in any subject stream) at the GCE Advanced Level (Sri Lanka) examination (under old syllabus) in one attempt
OR
- Any foreign qualification equivalent to the GCE Advanced Level Examination in Sri Lanka (Edexcel/Cambridge)
